Fabio Fidone è nato ad Alassio nel 1959, dove vive e lavora come architetto e designer libero professionista. Si è laureato con Lode in Architettura presso il Politecnico di Milano, dove ha anche conseguito un Master in Design & Management.

Sin da giovane si è dedicato alla fotografia e questa passione lo ha portato a svolgere anche la professione di giornalista pubblicista free-lance, pubblicando le sue immagini su varie testate dei settori che maggiormente contraddistinguono il suo lavoro: l’architettura e il design.

Cronista attento del panorama architettonico mondiale, durante i suoi numerosi viaggi ha scattato oltre 100.000 fotografie che riprendono sia i monumenti storici sia le più moderne costruzioni contemporanee, immortalate con un punto di vista inusuale.

La sua ricerca fotografica  indaga i vari aspetti dei tessuti urbani: un patrimonio di culture e tradizioni che spesso sono destinate a mutare con il progresso, caratterizzati anche da elementi architettonici minori ma fondamentali, come i serramenti, i decori delle facciate o le opere in ferro battuto. Particolare attenzione viene posta verso quei luoghi che sono stati dichiarati dall'UNESCO Patrimonio Mondiale dell'Umanità poiché meritano che venga posto l'accento sulla loro preservazione e conservazione.

La lettura delle architetture, compiuta attraverso uno sguardo “prospettico,” viene esasperata per accentuarne il percorso storico e temporale. La prospettiva, che rappresenta la distanza fisica del soggetto dall’occhio dell’osservatore, è letta anche come distanza temporale.

Recentemente ha deciso di affacciarsi sul panorama fotografico al di fuori della professione giornalistica e si dedica anche ai ritratti e alle foto naturalistiche.

La ricerca sulla conservazione dell'architettura lo ha portato a preservare anche le proprie immagini attraverso l'utilizzo della Fineart sia per ottenere una migliore resa cromatica e di dettaglio che per garantirne la durata.

Nel corso degli anni ha pubblicato molte foto su riviste di tiratura internazionale, spesso apparse anche sulle cover, ricevendo critiche molto positive da parte di editori, lettori e addetti ai lavori.

L'ultimo progetto fotografico si intitola "Architetture ritrovate" e rappresenta l'espressione molteplice di immagini che si legano ad altre per significato o analogia e che si manifesta con la creazione di scenari costruiti, dal forte significato simbolico, e connotati da ulteriori riferimenti testuali o iconografici che ne sottolineano ancora di più l’idea originale.

Il forte legame con il passato è rappresentato, in forma contemporanea, nell’accostamento di stili architettonici e di diversi elementi tratti da altre realtà e situazioni che vengono fusi per raccontare una nuova storia. L’architettura, contemporanea o antica, fa parte del bagaglio culturale ed espressivo dell’autore ed è sempre l’elemento principale e ricorrente nelle sue opere.

Due immagini inedite sono state selezionate per essere esposte alla Biennale di Fotografia - anno zero - a cura di Vittorio Sgarbi, che si terrà dal 20 giugno al 31 luglio presso il prestigioso spazio della Centrale Taccani a Trezzo sull’Adda, Milano Città Metropolitana, che è stata inserita come fiore all’occhiello nella programmazione di “Milano Expo 2015 International Contemporary Art”.

 

Fabio Fidone was born in Alassio, Italy, in 1959, where he lives and works as an architect and designer freelancer. He graduated with honors in Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, where he also obtained a Master in Design & Management.

From a young age he devoted himself to photography and this passion has led him to perform even the profession of free-lance journalist, publishing his images on various newspapers of the sectors that characterize his work: architecture and design.

He is a careful chronicler of the architectural scene worldwide, during his many trips took more than 100,000 photos that shows both the historical monuments as the most modern contemporary buildings, captured with an unusual point of view.

His photographic research explores the various aspects of the urban fabric: a wealth of cultures and traditions that are often destined to change with progress, also characterized by architectural minor elements but fundamental, like the windows, the decorations of the facades or iron wrought works. Particular attention is given to those places which have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Site because they deserve to be emphasized about their preservation and conservation.

The reading of architectures, accomplished through a "prospective" look, is exaggerated to emphasize the historical path and time. The perspective, which represents the physical distance of the subject from the eye of the observer, is read as temporal distance.

He recently decided to appear on the photography scene outside of journalism and is also dedicated to portraits and nature photos.

The research on the conservation of architecture led him to also preserve his images through the use of FineArt both to get a better color rendering and detail that to ensure durability.

Over the years he has published many pictures in magazines of international circulation, often also appeared on the cover, receiving critical acclaim by publishers, readers and experts.

The last photo project titled "Rediscovered Architectures" is the expression of multiple images that are linked to other meaningfully or analogy and that is manifested by the creation of scenarios constructed, powerfully symbolic, and characterized by further reference text or iconographic that emphasize even more the original idea.

The strong link with the past is represented in contemporary form, in the combination of architectural styles and different elements from other realities and situations that are fused to tell a new story. The architecture, contemporary or ancient, is part of the cultural and expressive of the author and is always the main element and the recurrent in his works.

Two new images have been selected to be exhibited at the Biennale of Photography - year zero - by Vittorio Sgarbi, to be held from 20 June to 31 July at the prestigious area of Centrale Taccani to Trezzo sull'Adda, Milan Metropolitan City, which It has been inserted as a flagship in the programming of "Milan Expo 2015 International Contemporary Art".
